The Eisack Valley Chestnutweeks are all set and ready to go

This year’s edition of the Eisack Valleys Chestnut-weeks has been presented on the Klausner town square. Staring on the 14th October and ending the 5th November, 16 restaurants in Vahrn and Barbian, put the locally grown chestnuts into the gastronomical focus.
It’s the sixteenth edition, organised by the Eisack Valley’s Hoteliers- and Restaurateurs- Association (HGV)Distrct. “Our restaurateurs show each year; how versatile the chestnut is. Gourmets arrive from far to enjoy the various culinary creations. “, says Helmut Trauber, HGV-Eisack Valley District chairman.
Maria Gasser Fink, mayor of Klausen, is especially excited for the upcoming weeks. “I would like to thank all the restaurateurs and HGV-District Eisack Valley, for putting this noble fruit into its deserved spotlight.”

A small preview on the upcoming weeks has been given to all visitors on the town square in Klausen. The innkeepers served their culinary chestnut creations and visitors were especially excited over the original Chestnut cake, made by confectionery “Gasser” in Lüsen, baked for this special occasion.
Accompanying programme
Next to culinary indulgences, nature and culture lovers could experience a diverse accompanying programme. The local tourism organisations offer various hikes, concerts, markets, festivities and other interesting events, who warrant a trip to the Eisack Valley.
The chestnut also plays a huge roll at the “Keschtnweg”. An idyllic hike through Neustift, to Brixen, Feldthurns, Klausen, Villanders, Barbian and Ritten to Bozen. It gives hikers the opportunity to experience the autumn nature, right between chestnut trees and fallen leaves.
