Speciality weeks in Terlano, Vilpiano and Settequerce from April to May
Terlano- in the asparagus triangle around Terlano, beginning April, the royal vegetable is again the centre of the culinary offer. As part of a press conference, the Terlano asparagus season was presented in an asparagus field in Vilpiano.
Every year, the inns invite you to the traditional Terlano asparagus season, which, this year, will take place for the 36th time. The chefs enchant with their innovative and sophisticated asparagus creations. This year, for the first time, gluten-free dishes can be found on the menus of the participating restaurants.
The asparagus has always been accompanied by fresh wine from the Terlano winery. "At the beginning of spring, the asparagus is the protagonist in our restaurants and inns. Therefore, I’d like to thank the asparagus hosts, who each year put the Terlano Margarete asparagus, skilfully and creatively in scene, and to all the countless guests who have become regulars during the season.” Says Andreas Sparer, chairman of the local Terlano group of the Hoteliers and Innkeepers Association (HGV), who together with Alexander Höller, head of the Asparagus department of the Terlano winery and representative of the asparagus farmers and Georg Eyrl, chairman of the Terlano winery, presented this year’s asparagus season.
Also present were the mayor of Terlano Klaus Runer, HGV vice president Gottfried Schgaguler and Alexander von Egen, who congratulated on the successful initiative. As part of the press conference, Elisabeth Hofer was crowned the new asparagus queen; following Nadia Degasperi.
Sponsors of the Terlano asparagus season are the company Dr. Schär, the Raiffeisenkasse Terlan, the association of South Tyrolean small animal breeders and the eggs of the quality brand South Tyrol.
Opening party in Terlano
The opening party of the Terlano asparagus season will take place on Thursday, 4th April at 11 o’clock, on the Dr.-Wieser-square in Terlano. Interested parties are invited to take part in the festivities and taste the culinary delights of the Terlano asparagus Margarete while enjoying a glass of the asparagus wine (sauvignon) from the Terlano winery.
Culinary program
For locals and guests, the Terlano asparagus season offers plenty of opportunities to discover and enjoy everything related to the royal vegetable. Culinary asparagus walks through the orchards and asparagus fields, horse drawn carriage rides with tasting of asparagus creations from the Terlano asparagus hosts and a cycling pleasure tour are offered. As well as opportunities to look over the farmers shoulders during a guided tour. All information about the Terlano Asparagus hosts and the detailed supporting programme can be found under spargelwirte.it

Pssst! They're still sleeping! Under the warm March sun, the white asparagus "Margarete" are almost ready. Protected with care, they are patiently waiting to be harvested. Not only will they soon wake up, so will our hunger. A welcome sight for our eyes, and diet.
Stay tuned!!!

Feltre is nice. Beautiful and sexy. They do not have many gelato flavours but what they lack in gelato flavours they make up in hospitality.
A spectacular view, a delicious lunch, and an excellent glass of pinot noir later, the excursion was a full success. Some say they might have even gotten some work done…
The Concierge and his trusted associate were part of the select few who experienced the presentation of the vinery Caldaro’s newest wines first hand. Titled “Project XXX”, master winemaker Andrea Moser debuts his new creations.
The sommelier world champion 2018, Eros Teboni and the president of the sommelier association FIS Trentino Alto-Adige, Raffaele Fischetti, guided through the evening.
Your Concierge was of course agreeing with master sommelier Eros opinion, apart from one minor thing. A smell of premature strawberry in this wine? No way!!!
A big thanks to Judith Unterholzner for the invite!

For multiple generations now the family has cared about the steep vineyards above the farm with love and care. The hills are in fact so steep that work with heavy machinery becomes impossible, everything is grown, tended to, and collected by hand.
St. Magdalena is most notably known for two things: the impressive old church that lends its name to the commune and of course to their second most known thing: the wine. Made mostly out of indigenous Vernatsch, it would be easy to forget about indigenous lagrein, since for every twenty grapes of Vernatsch, only about a single grape of Lagrein finds its way into a bottle of St. Magdalena, dictates the hundreds of years old tradition.
With such a known red wine, it is of course no surprise that it overshadows the white wines of the Gojer family, which do not have to hide behind their more known brother.
Cultivated in Karneid, they reflect the freshness and acidity of the cold climate in the Eisack valley. For years now the Kerner enjoys more and more of the limelight. Originally a cross-breed of Riesling and Vernatsch, the grape variety found its place in the sparse hills of the Eisack valley.
The more known varieties of Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc also found their stay in the hills. The resulting taste is atypical for South Tyrol but convinces by its charm and character. While they do not have to hide behind the two St. Magdalena reds of the Gojer family, a classical and a premium selection, these wines reflect St. Magdalena in two intertwined ways: one of tradition and terroir.
If it is the classical St. Magdalena, or the St. Magdalena Vigna Rondell, you should try both. A get together of generations, of two directions in wine tradition and culture.
Against all difficulties, the Gojer family creates an authentic product, with its own identity. In times of constant advancement, this small vinery retains the original South Tyrolean identity while still going with the time.
The Glögglhof masters blurring the lines between tradition and innovation. A vineyard you shouldn’t sleep on.
