From Vilpian to Paris? No problem!

Lemon scent and candlelight, Prosecco and palate tingling pleasure without end, Eddie Friel makes Brahms and Joe Cocker revive: it is not Paris, no, this is the summer garden at the Hotel Restaurant Sparerhof when birthdays are celebrated. A happy birthday "child" with 40, 50 people and even more gifts. And a "suitcase" full of money. With the money she got for her travels, birthday girl Gabi (see picture) will be traveling to Paris in November. So easy it is thus to travel from Vilpiano to Paris.

So beautiful is the homeland...

For the "Hoametfest" (homeland gathering) on the first weekend of August, several hundred Markentenderinnen (typical vivandières from our region) have come from the German Alpine area to Terlan.
More than two dozen vivandières from Imst have stayed with us at the hotel restaurant Sparerhof, accompanied by their enthusiastic drummers who set the right rhythm.
A vivandière's more than just the beautiful accompaniment of the local folkloristic team or band, a vivandière has many responsibilities in the team and enjoys great respect for the careful supervision and execution of the event. To prove that the vivandières from Imst are also talented and versatile, they have demonstrated it during the visit to our hotel: to traditionally celebrate the weekend, an ox was promptly been roasted. A culinary delight for the eyes.

Stream of visitors at the event "Cycling discovering the asparagus"

Also this year the restaurateurs that are protagonists of the Terlano asparagus season invited lovers of cycling and well-eating to attend a culinary biking excursion.
Whit Monday offered the cyclists pedaling along the bike path between Settequerce and Vilpiano a very special service: the ten restaurateurs of the "asparagus triangle" have set up three booths and offered dishes varying from delicious asparagus risotto at the stop in Vilpiano and Settequerce to Terlano Margarete asparagus with ham from Terlano's butchers Nigg and Mair and "Bozner Sauce" at the Terlano booth. A sweet surprise of the bakery "Mein Beck" completed the tasty proposal. At all the stands, the classic wine "Spargelwein" made its appearance produced by Cantina Terlano to enhance the taste of the asparagus.
Not missing the apple juice from the Weissenhof farm.
An unmissable event for all gourmets: many cyclists, and others, who have taken the opportunity to join in this wonderful occasion.
A beautiful day and a great opportunity to round off the asparagus season: consider that you only have until the end of May you have the chance to enjoy yet this vegetable in 10 asparagus restaurants.
"This year we have succeeded with this event to raise awareness of the asparagus to the tourists and the local population in a particular and unique way," says Andreas Sparer, president of the local association of hoteliers.
An initiative now in its third edition and is already a confirmed meeting point during the always appreciated "asparagus time" in Terlano.

Asparagus hikers

The asparagus season is entering its final phase and, among those who did not want to pass up the opportunity to taste our dishes, we hosted a large group of fellow restaurateurs and hoteliers of one of the most beautiful areas of the Dolomites.
Also thanks to the unexpected and very welcome musical accompaniment that has created a great atmosphere which involved all the other "asparagus walkers" parked at Sparerhof.
Find the picture displaying the musicians wishing a good ride to Mr. Willy...

The winemaker Claudio Morelli

Our supplier of the delicious olive oil that we use in our dishes came to surprise us and to introduce the producer, Claudio Morelli, owner of the farm land.
On this occasion they presented also some wine, with which we immediately fell in love: soon at least two of the wines produced by Morelli will be part of our list!
The agricultural company located in the hills of tuffaceous sandy soil is made up of about 22 hectares of vineyards and 400 olive trees. DOC grapes are grown in the area of Bianchello Metauro and Sangiovese vines and also Montepulciano, Cabernet, and Red Grenache in six different vineyards located in the hills overlooking the valley of the river Metauro. The annual production is about 110,000 bottles.

Suggestive carriage ride in the South Tyrolean triangle of the asparagus.

For the first time there was the "Suggestive carriage ride" in the triangle of the asparagus among the green landscapes of Terlano, Vilpiano and Settequerce. It's an initiative of Ristoasparagi: a group of 10 restaurateurs of the association of hoteliers and restaurateurs in South Tyrol of the Terlano section.
The culinary excursion carriage hit the towns of Vilpiano, Terlano and Settequerce.
It has offered guests a real journey to discover numerous delicacies.
Upon departure, in front of the parish church of Vilpiano, was Andreas Sparer, president of the accommodation section of Terlano, who has welcomed the asparagus lovers.
Through the streets of villages and apple orchards in bloom, passing close to the asparagus fields, discovering the enchanted streets of various towns, the participants enjoyed the beautiful sunny day and stopped to enjoy the asparagus creations conceived and produced by restaurateurs: an unparalleled nine-course menu.
Along the way Alexander Höller, head of "Department Asparagus" in the wine cellar of Terlan, explained the cultivation of this "royal vegetable".
All this reaching the fields of asparagus, just where the asparagus grows. In the cellar of Terlano its president Georg Höller has presented the processing and marketing of the beloved vegetables, not without tasting the asparagus wine and other specialties of the cellar.
In the evening, then, Andreas Sparer proposed "Homemade Tagliatelle with pesto and asparagus": a great farewell to this friendly group of lovers of asparagus.
A unique adventure for all those who appreciate the asparagus and want to know more about it.
All those who wish to live this unique experience you can register for the next date of "Suggestive carriage ride", scheduled on May 16.
